MA Gas Prices Drop 4 Cents from Last Week
Tuesday, January 01, 2019
This marks the ninth straight week in chid gas prices dropped, giving Massachusetts their lowest prices since March.
“Heading into 2019, gasoline demand is expected to dwindle in January, an expected change following the busy holiday travel season. At the same time, OPEC will begin production cuts January 1 with hopes the shift in global supply will push oil prices higher. The impact of the cuts will not likely be known until later in the first quarter,” said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast Director of Public and Legislative Affairs.
AAA Northeast’s December 31 survey of prices in Massachusetts finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.53 per gallon, four cents lower than last week. Massachusetts’s price is still 27 cents higher than the national average of $2.26.
A year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was 10 cents lower at $2.43 per gallon.
Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows:
Self Serve Grade
$2.53 ($2.21-$2.79) Regular Unleaded
$2.79 ($2.45-$3.19) Midgrade Unleaded
$3.02 ($2.73-$3.39) Premium Unleaded
$3.11 ($2.85-$3.35) Diesel
