GoLocalProv: Kristen, it’s been quite a year! Tell us what’s been going on.
Kristen: Yes, it has, thanks! We’ve been really successful since we opened Gloss & Glamour this past May. In addition to receiving a lot of press (including GoLocalProv!), we were involved with the very first Providence Styleweek as well as charitable events for the American Diabetes Association. Plus we’ve built up a fabulous roster of amazing clients.
GoLocalProv: What motivated you to open your own place?
Kristen: I love that it’s mine and that feeling really inspired me. I control my own brand, I get so much from it and I love what I do so it does not feel like a job.
GoLocalProv: Does your love of beauty go back pretty far?
Kristen: Since childhood! I used to love to go through my mother’s makeup drawer and as I got older, I was always the go-to girl for makeup when I went out with my friends. I decided to make it a full-time career and attended Rob Roy Academy. I also trained in skincare with Dermalogica, my salon’s skincare line and completed my post graduate degree at its International Dermal Institute. I take every opportunity to learn within skincare and makeup, there’s always something new.
GoLocalProv: Best piece of beauty advice?
Kristen: Moisturize! Young or old, everyone needs to moisturize for hydrated, plump skin!
