The LOOK: Gray Is Sexy
Saturday, December 10, 2011
Going gray can be a gorgeous experience, but it takes finesse. Here are my 4 steps to making that transition work for you in the best way possible.
1. Sit with your beauty professional and discuss your journey into the gray zone.
2. Always transition slowly into gray and make it your own.
3. One transition is to allow yourself to gray at the temples or create a gray accent around your face, but you would still have to color every so often to keep your gray looking fab.
4. Never let your gray grow out with old color at the ends… unless you will live in your hat for a couple years! Natural gray isn't always the most attractive, anyway--it can be very muddy and clash with your skin tone.
Which leads to the bottom line: bring a powerful ally along for the transition… a colorist. Make sure he or she specializes in the going-gray look, and work out your strategy together.
