The LOOK: Pro Tips on Hair Care

When washing and conditioning, we need to think of it as the foundation to great, beautiful hair. Think of some of the most beautiful tresses in the world - European, Indian, Japanese, Brazilian - all healthy, long, full and shiny, thick hair. It can be yours with a few simple rules that will keep you from over-washing and stripping your natural oils from your hair.
1. Shampoo twice a week.
Yep, girls, that's it. If possible, in between shampoos you can wet hair and leave a leave a conditioner in. My favorite is Klorane papyrus milk. You can pick up at Sephora at Providence Place or Frank Antonio Hair and Makeup in Newport.
2. Dry shampoos are a life saver.
In between those washes, they add body to hair as well as a clean scent. My favorites are Rene Furterer, Klorane, and Ojon; all amazing products and once used you will wonder how you got by without these hair gems. Dry shampoos especially work on oily scalps for those who think they must wash every day due to greasy hair.
3. Treat curls right.
For curl-girls, low sulfate shampoos are best to keep your cuticle tight and avoid frizz and dryness. Deva Curl is specially made for curls - I recommend it. Also: after washing, squeeze out access water with a paper towel and let dry naturally. Then run fingers through root area as not to disturb ends of hair.
Try this for a month, and join in the toast: Here's to your new-found healthy hair!
