Tuesday, November 13, 2012

Some Central Mass businesses are making a name for themselves as they earn top spots in the WorkplaceDynamics list of Best Places to Work in 2012.

Over 1,500 businesses competed in the rankings to show who had the best workplaces. Businesses were ranked by their employees on their direction, execution, connection, managers, work, and pay and benefits. They were also broken down into small, medium, large, and largest companies.

“At Globoforce, we help companies around the world build and sustain a culture of recognition,” said CEO Eric Mosley. “We’re truly honored to be recognized for the very thing that makes us successful: engaging employees and creating a workplace of positivity.”

Globoforce calls themselves a “leading, cloud-based software company” that has pioneered in their field. The focus on employee and culture management, helping employers better understand and encourage their employees.

Integrated Financial Partners
Worcester, MA
#7 for Medium-Sized Businesses

Worcester’s claim to fame on the list, Integrated Financial Partners, comes in at the 7th spot in its category, and Vice President of marketing and Financial Planner, Jill Anderson, said that their family-oriented practices are what really set their company aside.

“The work we do – financial planning doesn’t sound very fun or exciting, but when you help someone’s financial health, it impacts them and sometimes generations to come,” she said. “You get a feeling of what you’re doing is important, and it feels good coming in and helping generations of people. You know what you’re doing is important.”

Integrated Financial Partners isn’t just concerned about their clients’ families, but also those of their employees.

“Most of the people here feel very empowered. The clients just come first, and everybody digs in so you have a feeling of worth when you’re here so that translates into job satisfaction,” Anderson said. “There’s good office support. My assistant went out in maternity leave and is now working part time. The way we see it, this is a big deal in someone’s life, so because we all pitch in to help, your family comes first. We’ll be flexible.”

Anderson also said that their company is flexible, not just in terms of helping employees with emergencies and family issues, but also with job descriptions, making everyone feel equal.

Central Mass, she said, brings all the benefits of an urban area like Boston, without the traffic.

“The reality is that there are talented people and strong businesses in the heart of Massachusetts. From this location we can easily serve clients all over New England.”

To stay successful, Anderson said they pay close attention to their social media outreach and catering to their audience.
