Becker College to Host Lecture on Esports

Becker College will host retired Esports athlete Alberto “Crumbz” Rengifo for a lecture discussing the state of Esports.  

The event will take place on Tuesday, February 13 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Colleen Barrett Center. 

“Competitive video gaming is expected to be a $1.5 billion industry by 2020, per Newzoo. More than 60 US colleges and universities have esports varsity teams, and professional sports teams, like the Patriots, 76ers, Miami Heat and several European soccer teams, also have stakes in professional esports teams,” said Becker College in their press release. 

Becker College’s League of Legends esports team, which is currently undefeated in Collegiate Starleague (CSL), is one of the first programs of its kind in the region to implement a regular training schedule.

About Rengifo 

Rengifo is an Estarz director and analyst for the recently launched Overwatch League, where New England Patriots’ owner, Robert Kraft, co-owns the Boston Uprising franchise. 

Rengifo will share his experience as an elite League of Legends player and as a coach at the highest level of competitive esports.
