“I greatly appreciate Atlas Distributing for taking the time to host the central Massachusetts delegation and helping us understand the challenges and the opportunities that their business faces,” Senator Fattman said. “I praise Joe and Jon for the business they run. It is a first class operation that we are proud to have in Worcester County.”
Senator Moore said, "Atlas Distributing is a great example of a locally based business that contributes to both the economy and local communities as well. It is always useful for legislators to learn from companies like Atlas about their successes, challenges and potential changes to laws or regulations that may be helpful to businesses across the Commonwealth.”
Atlas Distributing employs 225 people, 200 of which are full-time employees. The company is a family run business and is owned and operated by Joe Salois of Sutton.
“The tour was an interesting opportunity to see a very successful distribution program as a local business,” said Senator Chandler. “I commend Atlas Distributing, Inc. for all that they do to employ local residents and stimulate the economy.”
Representative McKenna said, "I was happy to join my fellow Central MA colleagues to tour Atlas Distributing in Auburn. This great company truly partners with its several hundred employees while playing an enormous role to support the restaurant and retail industry throughout Worcester County.”
Atlas Distributing, Inc., operating since 1933, is leading businesses in environmental sustainability and was named a Green Power Partner by the Environmental Protection Agency. Last year, Atlas updated all of their warehouse lighting with energy efficient halogen bulbs, decreasing their annual kilowatt usage by 30 percent.
"It was great to see a growing Central Mass business that is adding jobs while being environmentally focused," said Kuros. "I was particularly impressed with their strong track record on recycling, and their use of green energy for their facility."
Atlas has also developed an innovative program to pay their customers a percent of each beverage case, to incentivize their customers to collect the used bottles and save them for Atlas to pick-up and recycle.
“Atlas Distribution is an extremely impressive facility and a great asset to Central Massachusetts,” Muradian said. “I am very grateful for their invitation and their hospitality during our recent visit.”
