FlyORH: November 7 Is JetBlue Go Time

Supporting ORH and JetBlue now could reap great benefits later.
As I have said many times, we have a new owner, Massport, with the monies to make the needed infrastructure improvements (CAT III) and a great airline with JetBlue. My hope and belief is that these two daily flights with competitive pricing will have good passenger loads and be profitable for JetBlue.
Looking ahead
It is imperative that we support JetBlue now to make this a reality. If we do, more flights and airlines with even better pricing will follow. Although it is not a good idea to get ahead of ourselves, let’s take a look at what we may expect once we establish Fort Lauderdale and Orlando as successful profitable routes.
First, we know JetBlue will expand in Worcester. If you read the GoLocalWorcester interview with Dave Barger, he compared us to Hartford. Initially they started with Orlando/Fort Lauderdale then added Tampa, Fort Myers, West Palm, and San Juan. We can expect the same in Worcester!
Second, Allegiant Airlines could return to Worcester. Although they left Worcester once before, they have returned to other cities like Hagerstown. They also have made a huge commitment to fly more flights into Florida and a return to Worcester with different ownership would be easy. They are watching to see how JetBlue performs and could easily add a flight to one of their Gulf Coast destinations (St Pete’s or Punta Gorda) or even Myrtle Beach.
Third, my favorite would be Spirit to Myrtle Beach, where they account for nearly half the traffic there. JetBlue does not fly to Myrtle Beach so this would be the perfect compliment to JetBlue. Think this is a distinct possibility based on the success Spirit has had at Latrobe, a similar secondary airport like Worcester.
Lastly, Cape Air should seriously consider flying out of Worcester utilizing their code sharing arrangement with JetBlue. I have been saying this for years, since they do the same thing out of Hyannis, Provincetown, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket. Why not Worcester?
All of these are realistic possibilities if we take care of business and fill those JetBlue planes to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando starting November 7! Buy your tickets today.
