NEW: Auburn Chamber Announces Scholarship in Memory of Air Force Major

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

The Auburn Chamber of Commerce announced a new scholarship on Wednesday in memory of U.S. Air Force Major David Brodeur.

The $2,000 scholarship will be offered in honor of the late veteran who was killed in service to his country on April 27, 2011 in an “insider attack” in Kabul, Afghanistan while serving as an Air Advisor to the Afghan Air Force Command and Control Center under the NATO Air Training Command.

This new scholarship is available to children of Auburn Chamber Members and their employees who have a senior student continuing their education in an accredited post secondary school. Senior students who are employed by a member organization are also eligible.

The Major David Brodeur Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of parent or guardian involvement with the Chamber and the applicant’s work experience, community and school involvement, essay response and a potential interview.

The Brodeur scholarship is in addition to the $13,000 in academic and career-trade scholarships offered by the local Chamber announced earlier this year. Chamber Member Scholarship criteria and applications are also available online at the Chamber's website.

All applications may also be obtained by contacting Eleanor F. Houbre, Director of Chamber Services at 508-753-2924 x224 or info@auburnchamberma.com.

The deadline for submitting applications to the Chamber is Friday, March 1, 2013.
