New On-The-Job Training for RI Businesses

Thursday, November 18, 2010

Two local workforce investment boards, The Workforce Partnership of Greater Rhode Island and Workforce Solutions of Providence/Cranston, will host an information session for employers seeking on-the-job training for new employees and customized job training for potential hires on Wednesday, December 8.

The two boards have a combined $1 million in federal Workforce Investment Act funds available for matching training grants of two types: on-the-job training grants dedicated to improving the skills of newly-hired employees and reimbursing up to 50 percent of their wages while they are being trained and customized training grants designed to prepare potential hires for a particular job and fund a portion of their training costs. Applications for both types are accepted on a rolling basis.

The information session will be held at the Providence NetWORKri, 1 Reservoir Ave, Providence, RI from 8:30-10:30 a.m.
