Smart Benefits: DOL Guide Available on White Collar Exemptions to Overtime Rules

The eight-page guide is designed to help employers understand their responsibilities and options for complying with the FLSA’s overtime provisions in view of the changes introduced to the salary level in particular to prepare for implementation of the Final Rule. It is set up in two parts:
• Part One: provides a brief background on the FLSA’s white collar exemptions and how they apply
• Part Two: details some options employers may exercise to determine how best to ensure compliance with the Final Rule
The guide includes examples of typical scenarios as well as sources and links for additional information.
The effective date of the Final Rule is December 1, 2016.
