Worcester’s Madison Avenue Accessories Aims for High Fashion

Sunday, August 23, 2015

Worcester's Madison Avenue Accessories is proof that you don't have to travel to a big city to find the latest fashion accessories. Diel Lousigene of Worcester, owner of Madison Avenue Accessories, has combined her cultural background and passion for fashion to start a high fashion costume jewelry and accessory brand for the urban woman.

“Being a stylist, I saw the need for a line that satisfies women’s needs for high quality pieces that are affordable and will last for generations, and will emit a sense of pride the woman has for herself and her culture.”

Louisgene, who was born in Brooklyn, remembers looking at her mother's jewelry and finding unique, colorful pieces that have inspired the brand she created today.

Louisgene’s mother is a native of Haiti, and her step-father was born in Ghana. Louisgene’s aunts often wore beautiful traditional Ghanian clothing. At times, her mother adorned beautifully colored Haitian clothing and carefree fabrics in addition to her American wardrobe.

Louisgene says, “Seeing my family take pride in their appearance inspired my passion to always look amazing. My love for fashion started very young and was influenced by these two amazing cultural backgrounds.”

The Madison Avenue brand ranges from trendy ear cuffs to head chains and statement necklaces, Lousigene offers earrings replicating the Jamaican flag and an earring shaped like Africa, called the “Pride Earring”. Madison Avenue necklaces run from ten dollars to around forty dollars and the inventory is always changing. While all of the Madison Avenue Accessory pieces can be worn by women of every age, the styles are bold and will turn heads. They all tell a story and will complement the woman who has a story to tell.

Quality is also an important factor to Louisgene’s line. To curate her line, she looks for pieces that will last for generations. Equally as important to Louisgene is finding pieces that are affordable so a woman doesn’t have to choose between being fashionable and paying her bills.

“Our vision is to become the number one retailer of fashion jewelry. Our Brand is comparable to none, catering to the classy and fun female who is confident in their style and is fashionably exclusive," said Louisgene.

Louisgene currently sells her accessories on-line and at trade-shows, and is styling for photo shoots and other projects. She also collaborates with other designers for fashion shows and is working to get her pieces in the hands of actors and musicians. Louisgene’s goal is to franchise the niche boutique jewelry market starting with a brick and mortar location in Worcester. She also plans on getting into major retailers and making the jewelry available world-wide. Until then, she will continue to style local woman and show the fashion world that real beauty comes from loving who you are and where you come from.
