Wednesday, June 27, 2018
“Making long overdue repairs and upgrades to the Pearl-Elm Garage is a priority as our city continues to develop and evolve. Investing in a facility that is used by area businesses as well as visitors going to events at Mechanics Hall, the DCU Center, the Palladium and other destinations is vital to achieving a vibrant downtown,” said Augustus.
The Renovation
Renovation work is now underway and is expected to last two years.
The garage will receive full-scale structural repairs including new concrete and steel, upgraded decking and a new façade, elevators, and stairwells.
Also included in the renovations will be the installation of a new security system, and fire protection system in addition to improved LED lighting.
During the entire renovation period the garage will remain open for use.
TRAC Builders, Inc. is the general contractor for the project.
