Message: From GoLocalWorcester by Leonardo Angiulo, GoLocalWorcester Legal Contributor: The relationship between immigration and criminal law was an issue in the United States long before the most recent election cycle. One of the connections between the two are the immigration consequences for picking up criminal charges. The questions of deportation, denial of naturalization, and ineligibility for readmission if they leave is in some ways secondary to a more immediate issue of who is going to be held in custody during immigration proceedings. The detention of people who are immigrants was placed into focus by the First Circuit Court of Appeals in joined opinions published on December 23, 2015. http://www.golocalworcester.com/news/angiulo-taking-immigrants-into-custody
