Message: From GoLocalWorcester by Cristiana Quinn, GoLocalWorcester College Admissions Expert: Scandal rocked the Brown University campus this week when it was reported that a student is being allowed back on campus after being found guilty of rape, illegal drug use and violence by the university's conduct board. After little more than a semester of suspension, the rapist will be back on campus while the victim is still a student a Brown. Sadly, this is not unusual. Amherst College and Columbia University have been mired in similar scandals over the last few years, and according the Department of Justice, 1 in 5 women will be the victim of sexual assault in college. This leaves parents wondering how they can protect their children when some college administrators are not taking violent crime seriously on campuses. Here are a few resources and strategies to help families research campus safety and keep their children safe: http://www.golocalworcester.com/lifestyle/college-admissions-how-widespread-is-campus-rape1
