30+ Breweries coming to 2nd Annual Craft Beer Festival

Wednesday, April 04, 2012

Over thirty breweries will be coming to the DCU Center April 7th for the 2nd annual craft beer festival, Brew-Woo. The event is presented by KJ Barron’s, local purveyor of fine wine, spirits, and gourmet food.

Just a few of the participating breweries include: Wachusett, Magic Hat, Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams, Allagash, and locally brewed Wormtown.

KJ Barron’s employee, Kevin Pellerin, is excited for the upcoming show and is looking forward to the craft beer and customers.

“For the most part, it gets a lot of people in one place,” Pellerin said. “We’re advertising, and it gets our name out there and gets people trying a lot of new products that they wouldn’t have tried. It also brings in more people.”

Besides local brews, the event will also include live music, Wachusett Brewery sponsored Bar-BREW-Que corner, and concessions. Bands will be performing throughout the event, including folk songstress Ari Charbonneau aka ARIBAND, Pete Towler, Bobby Morin, My Silent Bravery, and The Stone Clovers.

With so many breweries present, visitors are sure to find something to their liking, but he had a hard time naming just a few for attendees to check out.

“It all depends on someone’s taste, but as far as which are going to be there that are worth trying, I like Allagash, Sierra Navada, and Sam Adams. And of course Wormtown,” Pellerin said.

Going Local

Wormtown Brewing Company is Worcester only microbrewery and operates out of Peppercorn’s Grille and Tavern at 455 Park Ave. They have a line of year-round beers including Be Hoppy, Seven Hills Pale Ale, and Elm Park Amber Ale, to name a few; they also have seasonal brews that go quickly. All of their beers include Massachusetts grown ingredients.

Brew-Woo will bring attention to local brews, like Wormtown, and bring business to local shops like KJ Barron’s who value quality ingredients and their customers.
