Massachusetts #4 In US For Ice Cream Eating

Thursday, July 11, 2013

Does every Bay Stater view ice cream this way? Apparently so, according to a new ranking from Bundle.

How much ice cream does Massachusetts eat? More than nearly every other state in the US, according to Bundle.

In a truly summertime data crunch (not a bad ice cream flavor), the website assessed ice cream consumption per capita based on credit card transactions at ice cream and frozen yogurt vendors. Massachusetts had the #42 highest consumption per capita, beat out in New England by Rhode Island at #2.

Topping the sweet ranking was Washington, DC at #1, followed by Rhode Island at #2 and Wisconsin at #3. Texas followed Massachsuetts at #5. Rounding out the rest of the Top 10 were Connecticut (#6), Delaware (#7), Utah (#8), New Hampshire (#9), and Kansas (#10).

Cities that scream for ice cream

Bundle also captured the Top 10 major metropolitan areas with the highest per capita consumption. They were:

#1 Long Beach, CA

#2 Dallas, TX

#3 Philadelphia PA

#4 Columbus, OH

#5 Milwaukee, WI

#6 Fort Worth, TX

#7 Washington, DC

#8 Bakersfield, CA

#9 Fresno, CA

#10 Portland, OR
