Over 40 restaurants in Central Massachusetts are participating in the 5th Annual Worcester Restaurant Week: Winter Edition, an event that begins this coming Monday, February 23. Restaurant week will continue over 13 days and ends on Saturday, March 7.

Participating restaurants of Worcester Restaurant Week offer customers a three-course meal for only $23.15. The three-course meal includes an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert. Some restaurants are offering special lunch menus.

Paul Giorgio, GoLocalWorcester MINDSETTER™ and president of Pagio Inc., who manages the event, said, "There are four new restaurants joining this year: The Urban and Sweet, both on Shrewsbury Street, and the Compass Tavern on Harding Street. Also, Two Chefs in Spencer is joining. In all the restaurants, customers can expect great food at a very reasonable price."

"It is very important that The Urban is a part of restaurant week: We are part of the Worcester restaurant community and we want to participate and put together a menu that will "wow" our guests. We want to over-deliver on our menu so that all guests have an idea of what we do on our regular menu," said Ian Nal, General Manager of The Urban Restaurant.

The Urban, which is located at 225 Shrewsbury Street, opened in January where Coral Seafood used to be. This Restaurant Week will be the Urban's first, and Nal is excited about the opportunity. Nal said, ""The exposure we will receive from the volume of guests that will pass through is tremendous. Our goal is to make each and every guest return to the restaurant because they were happy with their experience and also to try other menu items."

Dave Domenick, owner of the Compass Tavern, is also looking forward to the opportunity of joining the long list of Restaurant Week participants. The Compass Tavern opened opened the first weekend of October and right away it has been an outstanding success and great restaurant addition to Worcester’s Canal District area. Domenick said, "We are very excited. Absolutely. We don't really know what to expect because it's our first year and it depends on how many more feet of snow we get. I'm optimistic and I think it's going to work out real well."

"We are excited to be participating in Restaurant Week and hope people come out, take advantage of it and visit multiple restaurants who have been hit hard by the recent weather which has an especially big impact on all of the hourly and tipped people who work in the restaurant industry," said Alina Eisenhauer, owner and Executive Chef of Sweet Kitchen & Bar.

"If you didn't get out for Valentine's Day because you got snowed in, this is the perfect opportunity to go out and enjoy yourself," said Giorgio.
