UMASS Memorial/Hahneman Nurses Settle, University Nurses Pending

UMass Memorial and nurses reached an agreement today before a strike could take place.

UMass Memorial/Hahnemann nurses and the hospital’s administration have agreed upon a two-year contract after hours of negotiating with a federal mediator -- however an agreement between the University campus nurses and the hospital has not been reached.

With the agreement the notice to strike for Memorial/Hahnemann nurses has been lifted for May 23.  The nurses on the UMass Memorial Medical Center University campus have yet to reach an agreement, with talks scheduled on Monday with the federal mediator, he strike notice for the University nurses is still in effect for May 23.

The new UMass Memorial/Hahnemann nurses agreement includes improvements in staffing regarding limits on nurse patient assignments as well as attempting to improve patient care at the facility.
