Chelo's Slice of Hope Cake, also available by the slice

This just in: buying delicious cakes helps fight cancer.

Chelo’s has recently released its Slice of Hope Cake, a delectable yellow cake with white frosting and cheerful sprinkles. Adding to the sweetness is that a portion of the proceeds from sales of the cake will benefit cancer care at The Leonard and Adele R. Decof Family Comprehensive Cancer Center at The Miriam Hospital.

The inspiration for this cake came from Diane Chelo, whose father is currently in a battle against cancer and is receiving treatment at the Miriam Hospital. “The Miriam Hospital has provided my father with excellent care in his fight against cancer," she said, "and on behalf of the Chelo family, we’re proud to help The Miriam in assisting others in their fight with cancer as well.”

When the Leonard and Adele R. Decof Family Comprehensive Cancer Center opened in April of 2002, caregivers saw approximately 65 patients a day. Today, they provide care services to more than 100 patients. In the battle against cancer, any and all help is always welcome and Chelo’s recent contribution is no exception. “We are grateful to the Chelo family for their amazing generosity in helping us deliver the best care to our cancer patients and their families," said Fred Schiffman, director of the cancer center and the Sigal Family Professor of Humanistic Medicine. "We thank everyone in the community who supports Slice of Hope and assists us in our fight against cancer.”

If you would like to support this great cause, you can purchase a single slice or an entire cake at most Chelo’s locations. It may well be the sweetest and most rewarding desert of your life.

Note: Slice of Hope cake not available at Chelo's Waterfront Restaurant in Warwick, but patrons can donate there with paper slices of cake.
