Diabetes Support Group Aims to Educate Worcester Residents
Saturday, March 31, 2012
The meeting, scheduled for Tuesday at 6 pm, is a part of a monthly series put on by the Worcester-based healthcare provider. This month’s program is called “Diabetes by the Numbers: From Diagnosis to Control,” and the discussion will focus on how patients can begin to adjust to a new lifestyle after being diagnosed with diabetes.
“We host these diabetes support groups on a monthly basis to help people living with the disease, as well as their family members, learn more about managing their diabetes,” Reliant marketing director Nicole Capuano said. “It's a terrific way for people to meet and learn from others living with the disease, and provides an opportunity to expand on the education and information they receive from their health care provider.”
Dr. Joseph H. Cohen III will lead the discussion, and participants are encouraged to add their own questions to the conversation. Family and friends are welcome to attend each session, and this month’s program is expected to run until about 7:30. Reliant also offers similar programs on a variety of health topics.
"Some of the programs that are open to the public include a Celiac Support Group, Heart to Heart Connection (a support group for people with coronary artery disease), and a Bariatric Surgery Introductory Session," Capuano said.
