Wednesday, May 27, 2015
The following priorities will be considered for the grants:
- 1. Promoting opportunities for at-risk/proven risk youth and young adults between the ages of 12 to 21 with a specific emphasis on youth preparing to age-out of the system and lose services
- 2. Providing health and social services for seniors
- 3. Improving access to good nutrition and promoting physical activity
- 4. Providing services to support individuals with behavioral and/or mental health issues with a specific emphasis on addressing the needs of the most vulnerable groups by their ethnicity, age, demographics and risk-factors
Fallon is introducing an enhanced online application process for the first time this year. The process begins with a Letter of Intent (LOI) which must be submitted by June 30, 2015. After review of the LOIs, the Community Benefits Committee will select organizations to submit full applications in August 2015.
“Fallon understands that applying for grants can be time-consuming on organizations that already have limited resources,” said Kimberly Salmon, Director of Community Relations at Fallon Health. “Our main priority is to ensure that nonprofits in the community have a simple way to express their needs and request resources. We’re excited about offering a more efficient, user-friendly experience for submitting grant applications.”
Last year, Fallon received over 179 full grant applications and awarded ten grants totaling $139,000. Average grant size remains in the range of $10,000 and $25,000. Grants will be awarded by Fallon to new programs or the expansion of existing porgrams that target populations in their service area.
“Our Community Benefits Grant Program is one of the ways Fallon works with community partners to foster positive health outcomes and long-term solutions,” said Christine Cassidy, Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer at Fallon Health. “As part of our mission of making our communities healthy, we’re committed to helping organizations extend their reach and maximize the impact they have on the health and wellbeing of those we serve.”
