Healthcare, Homecare Workers Team to Call For $15/Hour Wage

Monday, March 23, 2015

Healthcare and Homecare workers will team up to host a community forum on Tuesday, march 24 in Worcester to call for a $15/hour wage and investments in services.

The forum will be held at the Rock of Salvation Pentecostal Church, located on 829 Main St., in Worcester from 6-7:30 p.m.

This forum comes as a new report from the National Employment Law Project highlights how poverty among Homecare workers is undermining care.

Revenue in the home care industry has risen 48 percent over the last decade, however, average hourly wages for workers has declined by nearly six percent during that same period.

The Homecare industry is one of the fastest growing fields in Massachusetts, with more than 3,000 Homecare workers in the Worcester area alone.
