NEW: Reliant To Open 10 Pharmacies in Central Mass

Monday, January 21, 2013

Central Mass residents will have some additional options when having their prescriptions filled this year.

Reliant Medical Group announced plans on Monday to open pharmacies in 10 of its existing medical sites over the coming weeks. The pharmacies, most recently leased to and managed by CarePlus, will be branded under the EasyCare Pharmacy banner and will enable Reliant to intergrate pharmacists into its long established collaborative approach to patient care.

“One of our top priorities is to ensure that everything we do as a healthcare provider is designed with our patients in mind,” says Dr. Jack Dutzar, Reliant’s CEO. “Adding pharmacists as integral members of our healthcare team provides for unparalleled coordination with our doctors and ensures a higher level of safety for our patients.”

The 10 pharmacies will open between now and mid-February at Reliant Medical Group sites in Auburn, Fitchburg, Gold Star Boulevard in Worcester, Leominster, Milford, Elm Street in Millbury, Westborough, and in Worcester at Gold Star Boulevard, May Street and Plantation Street. Reliant’s medical office in Holden, which is moving in the spring to a new and larger facility, will also be home to an EasyCare Pharmacy.

“This new arrangement will provide a number of benefits to our patients,” adds Eric Howard, Director, Pharmacy Operations. “Because of the physical proximity to the point of care, patients will be able to walk out of their doctor’s office and down the hall to pick up a prescription with little wait time. Furthermore, the pharmacists and doctors will be in constant contact with each other, providing for an added layer of safety should any issues arise with a given prescription.”

Reliant patients interested in having their prescriptions transferred to one of the new EasyCare Pharmacy sites should speak directly with the pharmacy staff at the site of choice once it is open.
