Luna

Luna is a gentle giant. She is an 8 year old Shepard Malamute mix and weighs 89lbs! She has hypothyroidism that was left untreated and as a result has hair loss and skin infections. She is now on thyroid meds and medicated baths every other day and is expected to make a full recovery given time and proper treatment. 

Luna is still pretty uncomfortable due to her skin infections, but her foster family is starting to see her playful personality emerge. She loves her tennis ball and will bring it to you to play. She has lived with children, cats and other dogs in the past. She craves human attention and would love to have her very own stay-at-home human to keep her company. Luna does not use a crate and prefers to have full access to her home. She is very well behaved so it is safe to let her roam when no one is home.

Samson

Samson here to tell you that I'm a friendly 50 pound boy looking for a forever home! My previous owner loved me very much, but the landlord wouldn't allow dogs so I need to find a new family. 

My favorite thing is my orange ball -- I'll play with it for hours! I lived in a home with six children, so I'd be great in a home with kids. I also lived with younger cats, so I will likely be fine with cats with a slow introduction. I dot not get along well with other dogs, however, and will need to be in a home where I'm the ONLY dog.

Darby

Darby is a handsome, super sweet mixed breed with a great personality. He is 5 years old but you would never know as he doesn’t look a day over 3…at least that’s what he will tell you! Darby is a perfect size weighing in at around 40 pounds, ideal for sharing forts in the backyard for scheming summer shenanigans. 

Darby loves to go for walks! When he sees the leash and harness come out he is ready to hit the pavement. Tennis balls are his absolute FAVORITE, if you are up to it he will fetch that ball for you as long as you let him. He knows his basic commands of sit, down, and a little bit of stay. He is getting slow intros with other dogs via walks where they bark at him, he looks their way, nods his head, and says “what’s up bro” and keeps on trucking. We will continue to gather information on how Darby interacts with other dogs but so far so good. 

In addition, we are still learning how he gets along with kids and will update as we learn.

Buddy

Buddy is a five month old puppy who currently weighs in around 28 pounds. 

He's a mix of "we don't know what, your guess is as good as ours". He does awesome with his crate training and loves to play with other dogs. Buddy thinks he's a lap dog and loves cuddles!

A recent home of his had kids who harassed him a bit too much so he can be a little leery of kids. We feel that he can still go to a home with dog-savvy kids who are patient and kind - though a home without kids is just fine too. We fully expect adopters of Buddy to enroll in a formal training class with him to help cement the human/dog bond and to help develop Buddy into the best dog possible.

Boo

Boo is a gentle 8 year old tabby who came to BTR after treatment for a uterine infection. Boo is healing well and she accepts pets even though she's a bit shy in her new surroundings. A soft touch and quiet reassurance may be the way to this petite girl's heart.

Roscoe

Roscoe is a sweet 11 month old boy who was very afraid when he first came to Broken Tail Rescue but he's quickly coming out of his shell. We think this little dude is going to be a big boy when he grows up!

Roscoe's favorite thing to do is to play and run. He also likes other cats -- if you have an active cat, they will enjoy chasing each other in play. Roscoe wouldn't be a good match for other cats who don't like to be bothered because he's very curious and will go right up to them over and over.

Allie

Allie is kind of a diva in the best way possible. She is very curious- she likes to follow you around the house and prefers affection in small doses. She is on the smaller side with a beautiful, soft calico coat that barely sheds. 

Allie may be twelve but she looks and acts like a five year old! She is always bouncing around, exploring boxes, hiding under blankets and making herself little nests on the couch.

Buttercup

Buttercup update! She has had her surgery and will be ready to go to her forever family on Aug 14. Buttercup is such a special kitty! Despite her discomfort she has been affectionate and cooperative throughout. She deserves the best home! 

Buttercup is a beautiful three year old tabby who has had a rough time. She was found on the streets with a litter of kittens after her family moved away. Her kittens have all been adopted, but poor Buttercup has a congenital eye condition (eyelid agenesis) that requires surgery. Thanks to the wonderful generosity of Broken Tail Rescue donors, her surgery has been scheduled and she will be available for adoption in early August.

Meet Elsa -- a friendly five old tortie girl and brindled beauty who is mellow, affectionate, and funny. 

She will either be right up next to you (or on top of you!), cuddling, purring, and meowing for pets, or is perfectly content hanging out hiding under a couch or in a closet -- but not because she's scared. She readily comes out of her own volition.
