Victor

Victor is a sweet guy who was found as a stray in western MA. Victor is probably between 6-8 years old and he gets along wonderfully with other dogs and cats. He's good in a crate and appears to be housetrained.

Victor was just diagnosed with diabetes, and he is being started on twice-daily injections of insulin (which he is taking like a champ!). His meds are very inexpensive—100 needles for $20 and a six-month vial of insulin for $25—and very simple to administer.

Butterball

Butterball is right! This 20+ lb. boy is a huge bundle with a purr to match his size. He loves belly rubs and is looking for a family to love him and get him into shape—he's definitely overweight and should lose a few pounds to get down to a healthier size.

Dusk

Dusk is a beautiful, big gray cat. His fur is soft like a plush toy. He was very shy at first, but has grown into a real lovebug! He loves attention from people, and likes to give little kitten licks!

Amber

Age: Young

Breed(s): Pit Bull Terrier Mix

Amber is a super sweet brindle pit bull mix estimated to be between 1-2 years old. Although she was found as a stray, her spirits are high and she has a great attitude! She is a ball of energy, super-exuberant, and eager to please! She can be shy sometimes but absolutely adores people. She loves attention and will not stop until you notice and pet her. If she is not sticking her head out the window during car rides then she is busy giving you kisses.

Iggy

Iggy is a sweet, handsome, 3-year-old male who was found as a stray in Dorchester. He was obviously a house pet before becoming a stray. He tested positive for the FIV virus, but don't let that stop you from adopting! He can live a long, happy, healthy life. Iggy loves having kitty housemates and doesn't seem to mind dogs that are cat savvy.

Frankie

Age: Young

Breed(s): Dachshund/Miniature Pinscher Mix

Hi! I'm Frankie and I am a 1-year-old that weighs a little over 13 lbs, but I am on the skinny side and should put on a few pounds. I have long, slender legs that I can fold in many ways to fit on your lap, or to sit behind you on the couch. I can jump like a pogo stick! When I get excited I hop around all over.

My favorite thing to do is curl up on a nice, warm lap and fall asleep. I am house trained too but I don't love the ice and snow. My favorite game is fetch and I prefer a nice tennis ball over any other toy! I am the perfect combination of a lap dog and companion with the playfulness of a puppy, but much more well behaved than your average puppy!

Morrigan

When Morrigan came to Broken Tail as a rescue from Animal Control, she was left in a carrier behind a dumpster. She must have been abandoned and extremely traumatized, because she's a little fiesty. With time and patience, she has settled into her foster home nicely. However, she would be best as an only cat and needs an experienced cat whisperer.

Dougie

Hi! My name is Dougie. I'm a bit of a local celebrity...you might have seen me on CBS Boston's Pet Parade! I'm just the sweetest, gentlest boy you'll ever meet. While I'm just under 50 lbs, I still think I'm a lapdog and will take any opportunity to snuggle with you.

At 8-9 months, I am still young so I have lots of energy and enjoy all sorts of outdoor activities. At the dog park, I make fast friends. Outside of the park, I love to go hiking and am learning to run on-leash. When it comes to training, I'm all about the snacks. If you've got a tasty treat, you've got my full attention. Right now, I am perfecting my 'sit' and 'down' but I am looking forward to learning even more commands with your help!

Hello, my name is Peanut! It can take me a while to adjust to new environments but at heart, I am a playful girl that just wants a family to keep me safe and entertained. Some of my favorite activities include sitting in the window and watching the birds, and I also love to watch TV.

At only 16 months, I am very responsive sometimes I even come when called. I enjoy my food and my string/laser toys but my true love is my stuffed fox. You can often find us cuddling together on the top of my cat tree. He is really the only other animal I want to hang with though. Other cats, dogs, and even small children can be frightening to me so I would prefer to be the sole recipient of your affection!

Violet is a very sweet girl who is estimated to be about 6 years old. She's about 50 lbs now, but Broken Tail hopes to have her lose a few pounds from daily walks.

Violet is a low-key, independent, and little shy at first, but loves to play catch and give kisses once she warms up to you. She loves people and children, but does not do so well with other dogs or cats. Violet is well trained in the house and can be left to roam without a crate, making her a great choice for first-time dog owners or families. She is calm, gentle, and not destructive to furniture or other items in the house.
