Ace
Age: Adult
Breed(s): Domestic Short Hair & Tabby
Ace is a big lazy boy who loves people. He is very laid back and will make a great companion for just about anyone. He does great with other cats and would do fine with a respectful dog. He is just a sweet loving guy.
Ace has FIV, but can expect to live a fine life indoors and can have a normal life expectency. If he were to catch a cold, it might take him a little longer to recover, but other than that, he is a normal kitty. FIV is not easily transferable to other cats; it would take something like a deep bite wound, so as long as the cat residents get along it's not a concern. It's also important to note, that FIV is not transferable to humans! Ace would be happy for the chance to love a family and to live a comfortable life.
Evie
Age: Adult
Breed(s): Boxer
Meet Evie! Evie is a very sweet Boxer who was found as a stray. She obviously had a home at some point—she is house trained and knows to "sit" and "lay down" on command. Her face is very gray, and a vet estimated her to be around 10 years old, but she acts like a much younger dog! She came to the rescue as a little peanut of a boxer, but she has gained nearly 8 pounds over the past month in her foster home and has filled out nicely.
Evie is great with people. She loves hanging out with children and adults! She enjoys car rides and absolutely loves going for walks. She will be a great dog for a family or for single person. She appears to be picky in choosing her dog friends, but she does seem to get along best with more submissive pups. She is great with cats and will leave them alone for the most part. On occasion, she can't resist the urge to chase one of her kitty foster siblings, but it is all done in play.
Pacha
Age: Adult
Breed(s): Domestic Medium Hair
Pacha is a sweet girl that had to be given up by her owner, which was very traumatic for her. She is shy and stress-prone but has improved greatly in the time she's been with Broken Tail.
She is a loving, vocal gal who just needs a quiet place and a patient and understanding person to give her a home. With the help of some treats, the volunteers have even gotten her to sit on a lap! She's making progress and beginning to come out of her shell.
Stubs
Age: Young
Breed(s): Chihuahua
Hi, I'm Stubs! I got my name from my stub tail that I like to chase in circles! I am a silly and fun 10 lb. dog that absolutely loves to play! I will bring toys over to you to play with and my favorite thing to do is fetch. I am a very well behaved boy. I am house trained, excellent in my crate, and rarely, if ever, bark. I can often be found burying myself under blankets. I would love to find a home of my own where I can receive head scratches and sit on your lap. I would be fine as the only pet in the home, but I also love other dogs. I really like going for long walks. I need to work on my training a little bit, but I am a quick learner and want to please!
Shadow
Age: Senior
Breed(s): Domestic Short Hair
This poor guy was found outside alone in the cold, in a bad neighborhood where the cats are relentlessly chased by dogs. His front paws are painful from a declawing in addition to an earlier injury that didn't heal correctly, but he is now able to climb a cat tree so he can lounge in the window and watch the birds, which he loves to do. He gives a soft little trill and chirp when he sees you, but is otherwise not a very vocal cat. Broken Tail's vet estimates that Shadow is at least 14 years old, so he is looking for a quiet retirement home. He is very anxious with other cats, so he'd most likely be happier being your one and only.
Despite being a senior, Shadow has all his teeth and has no special dietary needs other than eating only canned food. He has all his teeth, but dry food (and too many treats) bind him up, so we limit the dry food and treats to just a few kibbles daily.
Amber
Age: Young
Breed(s): Pit Bull Terrier Mix
Amber is a super sweet brindle pit bull mix estimated to be between 1-2 years old. Although she was found as a stray, her spirits are high and she has a great attitude! She is a ball of energy, super-exuberant, and eager to please! She can be shy sometimes but absolutely adores people. She loves attention and will not stop until you notice and pet her.
Amber is receiving private professional training from Doggone Obedience. If you chose to adopt her, Doggone Obedience will continue to offer FREE training just for you and her! Check out this video to see her progress, and for more videos feel free to contact Broken Tail. Amber is very smart and learns commands very quickly. She already knows place commands, heel, come, sit, paw, lay, drop it, and leave it. She is well on her way to being the most obedient pup around!
Callie
Age: Adult
Breed(s): Labrador Retriever Mix
Callie is a 50 lb. black lab mix that is between 8 and 10 years old. Although this sweet girl is looking for her retirement home, she still has plenty of pep in her step. She is very motivated to please and works hard on her training. She has learned "sit", "stay", how to walk nicely on a leash, and has even learned to ring a bell to let you know when she has to go outside.
She would do best as the only dog in the house and needs a family that will continue to work on her training. With a little patience and a lot of love, Callie will easily overcome her tough past and become the perfect dog for one very lucky family.
Morrigan
Age: Adult
Breed(s): Dilute Tortoiseshell
When Morrigan came to Broken Tail as a rescue from Animal Control, she was left in a carrier behind a dumpster. She must have been abandoned and extremely traumatized, because she's a little fiesty. With time and patience, she has settled into her foster home nicely. However, she would be best as an only cat and needs an experienced cat whisperer.
Jonas
Age: Young
Breed(s): Cairn Terrier Mix
Meet Jonas! He is a mellow Cairn Terrier mix who weighs 13 lbs. and is estimated to be 2 years old. He is been friendly with dogs and people, and loves to be wherever you are. He rides well in the car, and has no problems with being handled. His playfulness is starting to come out, but so far he is more of a cuddler.
Jonas is sweet and loving, walks nicely on a leash, and is very quiet in the home. He is a polite boy who just wants to be loved. Jonas sleeps quietly in a crate through the night, and has been fine when left with free access to the home during the work day. He appears suited to adapt to pretty much any living situation!
