Fourth Saturday Open Mic featuring Judy Ferrara at Barnes & Noble

The Fourth Saturday Open Mic will next meet at Barnes & Noble on Lincoln Street in Worcester.

Open mic at 7 pm, featured poets to follow.

This month Judith Ferrara will be the feature. Writer and visual artist Judith Ferrara is the recipient of the 2018 Stanley Kunitz Medal presented by the Worcester County Poetry Association which is awarded to a person who exemplifies Kunitz's life-long commitment to poets and poetry.

Her poetry and essays have been published in three collections and have been included in journals such as The Worcester Review.

The event begins at 7 p.m.

Live Caterpillar Show at Tower Hill Botanic Garden

 The Caterpillar Lab returns to Tower Hill during Pollinator Palooza. Rare, beautiful, and sometimes strange looking caterpillars are itching for you to visit.

Caterpillar expert Sam Jaffe and his staff will be on hand to answer all your questions and help you get up close and personal with these soon-to-be pollinators.

Charlotte's Web Experience at Old Sturbridge Village

This production is a reinvented version of the story, set in a timeless New England era that honors the 1830s but with a modern license to breathe fresh air into the story. 

In addition to the performance, tour the Village for a “Charlotte’s Web Summer” where you can visit their adorable piglets, see costumed historians re-constructing the Allen Piggery, weaving and spinning yarn, blacksmithing, farming, making tin objects, and demonstrating other aspects of 19th-century life, and special exhibits.

Worcester Caribbean American Carnival 

Join in for the 6th Annual Worcester Caribbean American Carnival on Sunday, August 26, 2018.

The day will kick off with "Brunch on the Commons" from 9AM - 1PM, followed by the parade starting in front of Worcester City Hall at 1:30PM. The parade travels down Main Street taking a left on Salisbury Street then ending at Institute Park. Institute Park will have vendors from 12-7PM.

Performances at Institute Park will kick off at the conclusion of the parade and continue until 7PM.

The Sunday morning class is a Hatha Yoga inspired class. It is accessible for students new to Yoga, while the more seasoned Yogi may find the slower, meditative pace to be the challenge.
