It is Thanksgiving weekend in Worcester and there is plenty to do for people of all ages to work off all that turkey.

This weekend’s events include Disney Live, a performance from Dale Lepage and the Festival of Lights.

Festival of Lights at Worcester Common Oval 

This year's Festival of Lights will feature American Idol star Jessica Cabral. 

Also performing is Burncoat High School's Quadrivium, and South High School's Chorus and Marching Band.

Performances throughout the night include Sasha the Fire Gypsy, Gaulin and Cirque de Light, face painting, horse-drawn sleigh rides, WooRides, local crafters and vendors, the opening of the ice rink, the annual tree lighting, and the arrival of Santa!

The event goes from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Glassblowing Jellyfish Paperweights at New Street Glass Studio 

After learning the safety and studio etiquette rules, students will watch a brief demonstration of this 2000-year-old art before diving in and making their very own jellyfish paperweight from glass gathered out of a 2100-degree furnace.

Instructors will guide students through the steps from gathering to creating a sea creature with simple color patterns, from casing it in clear glass to shaping their own paperweight. No experience is necessary and all materials are included. 

The class goes from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Enjoy a reading of a classic holiday tale, hot cocoa and cookies, and a visit with Santa.

stART on the Street brings its 12th annual gifting-themed arts and crafts festival to Worcesters Union Station. 

Browse through 100 Artists and Crafters in the Grand Hall and then take a stroll around the Concourse where 35 more Artists and Crafters will be selling their wares.

Union Stations restaurants will offer a full bar and a light menu during the event.

The event goes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Centered on three main themes - form, process, and people - the exhibition examines the tools, products, and livelihoods of rural cabinetmakers in the early 19th century.

Visitors will gain a deeper insight into how these objects were designed, fashioned, and used in the period, and how they inform our understanding of modern-day craftsmanship.
