The Miss Massachusetts Pageant is set for Saturday night

A busy fourth of July weekend in Worcester that features events for all ages. 

Things to do include Worcester's annual Independence Day Celebration, the Miss Massachusetts Pageant at Hanover Theatre, live music and much more.

Glassblowing Floppy Bowls at New Street Glass Studio 

After learning the safety and studio etiquette rules, students will watch a brief demonstration of this 2000-year-old art before diving in and making their very own floppy bowl from glass gathered out of a 2100-degree furnace.

Students will choose their own colors and instructors will guide the class through the steps from gathering to applying colors, from blowing out the bubble to spinning it open to create each unique floppy shape. 

The class goes from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

City of Worcester's Annual Independence Day Celebration

The Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce announced that Worcester’s annual Independence Day Celebration will take place at Cristoforo Colombo Park on Friday.

The park will open for the celebration at 4 p.m. 

Hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, drinks and more will be available for purchase in the refreshment area. 

Kids’ Korner is open from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and will feature activities and games as well as Worcester Bravehearts mascot Jake the Lion. 

The celebration will officially begin with a ceremonial flag-raising at 7:40 p.m.

The orchestra will continue as fireworks begin at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra Family Concert at Cristoforo Columbo Park

The Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra, conducted by John Delorey and Jorge Soto, will present a concert of patriotic, classical, and Broadway music.

The Worcester Kiltie Band will also perform. Fireworks will accompany the 1812 Overture and Sousa marches. Concert announcer will be Bobbie Chase.

Fellowship of the King Elvis Tribute Band at Beatnik's

For fans of Elvis, or just old time rock n' roll the Fellowship of the King tribute band is a must see. 

The group will play everything from the 50s to the 70s. Fans will hear the music of "The King" as well as his covers from other artists like The Beatles, Righteous Brothers, Three Dog Night, Neil Diamond, CCR, Ray Charles, and many others!

The 5th Annual "One" Members' Exhibition at ArtsWorcester

ArtsWorcester asked their artists to bring us the single work they want most to exhibit, regardless of medium or theme, and we give you an extraordinary exhibit in return. 

Free parking in the two paved lots belonging to the Freemasons, at 1 Ionic Avenue. "The Fifth Annual ONE" will be on view through July 15, with gallery hours Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 12:00 to 4:00 PM, and by appointment.

The exhibition will be on display from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Miss Massachusetts Pageant 2017 at Hanover Theatre

The top ten contestants compete in talent, evening wear and swimsuit events.

The evening culminates with the 2017 Miss Massachusetts, Alissa Musto, crowning the new Miss Massachusetts, who goes on to compete for the title of Miss America.

The event runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
