There is plenty going on around Worcester to keep you busy this weekend. From music to art, there are events for all ages. 

This weekend’s events include Dale LePage’s CD release party, stART at the Station, the Festival of Lights and more.

Festival Of Lights Tree Lighting and Holiday Celebration

The annual Festival of Lights Tree Lighting and holiday celebration is set to take place at the Worcester Common Oval.

The event will feature pop artist Brynn Elliott.

Elliott’s debut EP, “Time of Our Lives”, is about embracing who you are and feeling inspired to act.

Elliot has played with artists like Alanis Morissette, Brandi Carlile and Allen Stone and more recently performed on Live with Kelly and Ryan and the Today Show. 

The event goes from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Night Lights is a walking experience throughout 15 acres of glowing gardens, where more than 200,000 lights have been thematically placed among the trees, shrubs, fountains, and statuary to create a magical winter wonderland celebrating plants and nature.

Music Worcester Presents Bach’s Magnificat & Cantatas

The program will feature J. S. Bach’s Magnificat and Cantatas, a musical setting of the biblical canticle Magnificat. 

Written for Christmas Vespers in 1723, it is scored for five vocal parts and a Baroque orchestra including trumpets and timpani that illuminate the Nativity story.

Musicians include The Worcester Chorus under the direction of Chris Shepard as part of his 10th season; Susan Consoli, soprano; Krista River, mezzo-soprano; Charles Blandy, tenor; and Stephan Barnicle, bass. 

The program will also feature a pre-concert talk within Washburn Hall by Dr. Joshua Rohde, Director of Choral Activities, Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

The concert begins at 8 p.m.

stART at the Station at Union Station 

stART on the Street is set to return to Union Station for the 13th annual stART at the Station.

Attendees will be able to shop from over 130 local artists, crafters, and makers, spread throughout Union Station’s Concourse, Rotunda, and Grand Hall.

The works vary from woodwork, clothing, candles, and glass to jewelry, soaps, photography, and more, including traditional holiday items like cards, ornaments, and stocking stuffers.

Music will also be included in this year’s event.

Acts include multiple award-winning singer/songwriters: both Gracie Day and Albino Mbie will perform, and The Clark Chorale Ensemble will perform acapella in the Lounge and the Rotunda.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
