The Festival of New England Makers

There is plenty going on around Worcester to keep you busy this weekend. From festivals to museums and sporting events, there are events for all ages. 

This weekend’s events include the Festival of New England Makers, live music from Dale LePage, the Hey Day Festival and more.

Free Fun Friday at the Museum of Russian Icons

The Museum will open an hour early, at 10 a.m., on this special day.

We’ll have docent-led tours, crafts, and Russian games, a sale in the Museum Store, Russian snacks for sale, and tons of fun!

Hey Day Festival at Wachusett Meadow

Come for farm-related demonstrations and hands-on activities for all ages, including cider-pressing, hayrides, and canoeing on Wachusett Meadow’s own Wildlife Pond. There will be cider, baked goods, produce, and other local product for sale, offered by the Princeton Farmers’ Market and area farms.

Kid’s activities will include a mini-maze, pumpkin painting, and free pony rides.

Festival of New England Makers at Old Sturbridge Village 

At this celebration of artisans, the Village will showcase New England trades from the 19th century. The Village’s blacksmith, potter, tinner, printer, and others will showcase their skills by crafting more complicated items not usually displayed at the Village.  From etching, to spinning, to woodworking, experience “handmade” from the past.

The festival goes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

stART on the Street Festival at Elm Park

The festival will include handmade wares from over 275 artists, four stages with live music, off-stage performances, activities for all ages.        

Elm Park’s Ricciuti Stage, dedicated to the memory of Worcester musician Scott Ricciuti, will feature acts including Dutch Tulips, Thinner, and the interactive Federation of Belligerent Writers.

The J. N. Phillips parking lot will host the World Music Stage, with acts such as the Carlos Odria Trio, Crocodile River, and reggae act I Anbassa.

Matt York, Olivia Frances, and Worcester’s duo The Promise is Hope are among the performers in the Park Grill & Spirit’s beer garden.

Dining options will include stART veterans Say Cheese, The Dogfather, Mike’s Vending, and Plouf Plouf Gastronomie, guests will find newcomers like South 9 with its fried fish and chicken, Wooden Noodles who offer Japanese ramen, and Melt, featuring poutine and pressed sandwiches.
