NEW: Two Central Mass Colleges Named Top Private School Values

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

Clark University checked in at No. 40 on Kiplinger's list.

Clark University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) have both been named top values among private universities by Kiplinger Personal Finance.

Clark checked in at No. 40 on the list, while WPI came in a little lower at 56. The list was topped by Yale University in New Haven Connecticut, while Rice University in Houston, Texas took the No. 2 spot. The top school from the Commonwealth on the list was Harvard University in Cambridge, which checked in at No. 6.

One thing that helped Clark in the rankings was its generous financial aid availability. With the help of financial aid, the average tuition at Clark goes down from $46,570 to $21,760 a year.

“Kiplinger’s list of the best private colleges has become a recognized and respected resource for families researching the best value in college education,” says Janet Bodnar, editor of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine. “The schools on this year’s list offer students both academic excellence and affordability, which is increasingly important in this challenging economic landscape.”
