5 Live Music Musts: Friday, November 22nd, 2013

The Tedeschi Trucks Band will rock the Lynn Memorial Auditorium this weekend.

A variety of live music greats for us this weekend…

Roy Bookbinder

Start tonight in Framingham at the Amazing Things Arts Center where acoustic Blues guitar legend Roy Bookbinder is performing. He’s the definition of a road warrior and it’s an American history lesson in the Blues when Bookbinder plays. You can also pick up his new album, “The Good Book,” while you’re there. Peg Espinola opens at 8PM – tickets are $20 with discounts for students and seniors.

Loudboy with Uncle Billy’s Smokehouse

Also tonight, head to The Lucky Dog Music Hall for Uncle Billy’s Smokehouse! and Loudboy featuring members of The Dresden Dolls and The Violent Femmes. You’ll hear the alt/punk sound on Loudboy’s new CD “Ultra MK.” Call My Names opens the show at 9PM – tickets are only $8.

Tedeschi – Trucks Band

Tomorrow night, head up to the Lynn Memorial Auditorium for local hero Susan Tedeschi and her husband Derek to see The Tedeschi Trucks Band. (We guess he’s pretty well-known too!) The band is in town after returning from a multi-city tour of Canada. The show is at 8PM - Jaime Woods opens. Tickets are available here starting at $44.20.

Jazz Greats at Chan’s

Saturday night, Jazz fans can be part of a live recording at Chan’s in Woonsocket, RI. Saxophonist and noted Berklee Professor Dan Moretti will be recording a live album featuring acclaimed guitarist Duke Robillard. It’s planned as a tribute album to jazz greats Stanley Tourentine, Kenny Burrell, and Jimmy Smith. It should be quite an evening featuring two world class performers. Tickets are still available at $18 – show starts at 8PM.

Legendary Daughters – Shankar And Presley

Finally, two great shows await this weekend at the Park Theatre in Cranston, RI. Tonight, Anoushka Shankar, sitar extraordinaire, and daughter of the late Ravi Shankar, performs with her band. Show is at 8PM - Tickets are available here. Tomorrow, the talented Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of “The King,” is in town. Show starts at 7:30PM. Click here for tickets. #10 Al Forno (Old Saybrook, CT)

Established in 1992, Al Forno (Not the one in Providence) uses a brick oven heated to over 600 degrees to create some of the best pizzas on the New Haven shoreline. They have received favorable reviews in the New York Times and Hartford Courant, and were named as one of Zagat's "Top 1000 Italian Restauants in America" in 2008.

Scampo, the first-floor restaurant within the famous prison-turned-hotel, Liberty Hotel, features a full menu of inventive italian-inspired cuisine, which also draws on Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern flavors.  The Lamb pizza, which makes the list, is only one of several unique pie options on their menu.

Established in 1925, Frank Pepe's Pizzeria's white clam pizza is rated as not only the best pizza in New England, but also best in all of America.  The pizzeria uses coal-fired brick ovens, and uses only fresh clams in their most famous pie. Frank Pepe's has been a favorite for many celebrities over the years, including Ronald Regan and Frank Sinatra.
