Betty LaVette
Tonight, R&B/Soul legend Betty LaVette returns to the Bull Run in Shirley. LaVette recently celebrated her 50th year in the music business. She’s been on a great run lately, performing with Jon Bon Jovi at the 2009 Obama Inauguration and at the Kennedy Center Honors where she dazzled those in attendance with “Love Reign O’er Me,” in honor of The Who. She shares many colorful tales of those 50 years in her autobiography, A Woman Like Me, which was published last year. A few tickets remain on sale for $46 - the music starts at 8PM.
Elton John
Saturday night at the Dunk in Providence, the Rocket Man, Elton John, jets into town. Sir Elton is true music royalty, a pop music icon, a performer beyond the “legendary” label. Like the Beatles, Stones and Dylan, his work has influenced most who have come since. He’s been getting around lately, recently recording a song with Jack White for a BBC blues music series currently in production. Tickets are still available starting at an affordable $28. 2Cellos, an acclaimed duo compared to Jimi Hendrix (by none other than Sir Elton himself), open the evening at 8PM. And if you can’t make it tomorrow night, he’s in Boston at the Garden on Tuesday Nov. 12.
Tony Bennett
The man, the myth, the legend, Tony Bennett will be in town tomorrow night at the Hanover Theatre. At age 87, Bennett continues to tour to adoring crowds. With 16 Grammy awards, Kennedy Center Honors, and numerous honorary degrees, he’s certainly won more awards than any other living performer. His daughter, Antonia Bennett, opens the evening at 8PM. It’s close to a sell-out, a few tickets remain starting at $64.50. Don’t miss him!
Ani DiFranco
On Sunday night, check out Indie original Ani DiFranco at the Calvin Theatre in Northampton. DiFranco is a true innovator, an early “indie” artist who continues to challenge the status quo in the music world. This show is sure to sell out – get tickets now at $32.50. Show starts at 8PM with opener Buddy Wakefield.
Aaron Neville
Another not-be-missed show at the Hanover Theatre arrives on Wednesday, November 13 where Aaron Neville appears. Touring along with his brother Charles on saxophone, Neville will feature tunes from his new solo album, My True Story, a collection of early R&B and Doo Wop hits. Tickets start at $32.50. Show starts promptly at 8PM.
