Big Dipper All-You-Can-Eat Ice Cream Festival, Worcester
Saturday All-you-can-eat ice cream and puppies…What else could you ask for? Cool down at the Big Dipper All-You-Can-Eat Ice Cream Festival in Elm Park with as much ice cream as you can eat from Coco’s Tropical Ice of Auburn, Cold Stone Creamery, Janine’s Frostee of Ware, Yasso Frozen Greek Yogurt, and many others! For a little break from ice cream paradise, you can also fill up at their food tent with grilled hot dogs, burgers, drinks, and snacks. Participate in a large raffle, check out nature demonstrations and the WPI robotics team, and watch all the musical and dance performances while the kids get endless entertainment from the festival’s moonwalks, face painting, clowns, balloons, NEADS puppies, and more. All proceeds go to Children’s Friend, the oldest child and family service agency in the region, so bring the whole family down for the ice cream, family fun, and of course, the puppies, while you help support your community! 10:30am-5:30pm. Elm Park. Festival fronts on Russell St., Highland St., and Park Ave. Ages 10 and up, $5; ages 4-9, $1; 3 and under, free. Fruitlands Museum Exhibit Opening, Harvard
Saturday Meet Fruitlands Museum Artist-in-Residence Jodi Colella at the opening of her exhibit, “The Nobility of Things.” This award-winning fiber artist integrates science and art in her work, incorporating both natural and man-made materials as she explores artistic ideas. Bring a friend and be the first ones to examine Colella’s thought-provoking art while you enjoy a tour of the gallery, live music, and light refreshments. 1-3pm. Fruitlands Museum, 102 Prospect Hill. “Corsets, Looms, and Three-Deckers” Walking Tour, Worcester
Sunday Explore the history of industry and life in an early 20th century Main South neighborhood with Preservation Worcester as part of their summertime walking tour series. The tour will begin at Royal Worcester Apartments, formerly home to the Royal Worcester Corset Factory when Worcester was blooming with factories, and will introduce walkers to surviving portions of a loom works factor, former churches, and the history and architecture of some of Worcester’s most successful industries. Get some great exercise, meet new people, and explore the rich past of this Worcester neighborhood. 2:30-4:30pm. Meet at the gate of Royal Worcester Apartments, 45 Grand Street. 10th Annual Asian Festival, Worcester
Sunday For its 100th anniversary in Worcester, the Southeast Asian Coalition of Central Massachusetts’ Asian Festival promises an amazing spectacle. The festival will share multicultural heritages across the community with dance performances, colorful costumes, music, and food from different Asian countries. There will also be a health education program and free medical screenings offered by SEACMA for those interested. 12-7 pm. Gene J.
