Bubble Extravaganza in Providence
Friday-Sunday The Providence Performing Arts Center is hosting the world premiere of the Gazillion Bubble Show this weekend. Extraordinary bubble artist Fan Yang creates bubble masterpieces that will amaze you and your family. African American History in Providence
Saturday Ray Rickman will lead an African American history tour around Providence’s College Hill. On the walking tour, Rickman will lead a discussion on the history and importance of African Americans in Providence, while also offering perspective on the people and buildings of the oldest neighborhood in the capital city. The tour leaves at 10 AM from the RISD Auditorium, on the Providence River between College and Waterman Streets. Tickets are $15 and include a copy of Blacks on College Hill. Say farewell to summer from Newport
Saturday and Sunday Stop and Shop Harborfest at the Newport Yachting Center has it all. Featuring Festival Fete’s Newport Debut, there will be arts and crafts, a farmer’s market, multiple entertainment groups, local food, culinary samplings and demonstrations, and games and rides. It’s the perfect way to say good bye to summer while enjoying the beauty of the Rhode Island waterfront. Rhode Island Football Showdown
It’s that time of year again, the time when Brown and the University of Rhode Island duke it out in football to compete for Rhode Island pride. The annual Governor’s Cup is taking place at the Brown Stadium, 400 Elmgrove Ave on the East side of Providence this Saturday. Come watch the Bears take on the Rams at 6:00 PM in the second-ever Brown night football game. Tickets are free for students, $20 for the general public.
