Can it be Columbus Day already? Indeed it can. Get the most out of your Rhode Island long weekend with our handpicked events.

Columbus Day Weekend Festival in Providence

Saturday-Monday  Come welcome in fall on historic Federal Hill this Columbus Day weekend. The Federal Hill Commerce Association is hosting its Annual Columbus Day Festival, to bring people together for fun, food, and frolic with family and friends. The festival attracts several thousand southern New Englanders every year. The opening ceremony is noon Saturday at DePasquale Square. The parade takes place at noon Sunday at Atwells Avenue. Autumnfest in Woonsocket

Saturday-Monday  Woonsocket hosts the region’s largest fall festival this weekend at the World War II Memorial Park. Enjoy local musicians performing on an outdoor stage and partake in arts and crafts, amusement rides, fireworks, and much more! Kids can check out the Kidfest stage for magicians, clowns, and a reptile show while adults can enjoy live music and entertainment in the Beer Garden. 40 Snow St, Woonsocket. www.autumnfest.org

Sunday  Partake in the annual reenactment of Guy Fawke’s trial with a bonfire and live music. Watch The Misquamicut Players, King Crimson’s Jesters and The Beach Band explain the story of Guy Fawkes through acting and music. The show begins at 7 pm. Free admission. Jack-O-Lantern Art Ablaze in Providence

Friday-Monday  Get an early jump on the spooky season and bring the family one evening this weekend to discover the beauty of thousands of glowing, carved pumpkins depicting intricate designs from famous faces to illustrious places. This year’s Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular theme, “A Journey Around the World,” will take you on a trip you’ll never forget! Open nightly, rain or shine, 6 pm to 10 pm (trail closes by 11 pm). Pink Flames of Hope in Providence

Friday-Sunday  Celebrate National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Waterplace Park for a weekend of fun at this signature event. Friday, come see the Flames of Hope Opening Reception at 6:30pm. Stop by Saturday from noon to 4 pm for the Family Block Party with arts projects, lectures, and other activities, or stick around for Pink Party at 5:30 pm: a nighttime celebration with music and food. The beautiful Illuminations of Life Ceremony torch progression at 6:30 pm is something you don’t want to miss. Sunday join runners and walkers in the Gloria Gemma 5K.
