Ann Hood to Speak in Newport Saturday, Dec 4

Best-selling local author Ann Hood will speak at The Women’s Fund of Rhode Island's annual fundraiser at the Hotel Viking in Newport, RI on Saturday, December 4. The event will be a classic High Tea, featuring tea snacks and a lecture by Hood, best-selling novelist, essayist, magazine columnist, and teacher.

A native of West Warwick and current resident of Providence, Hood’s oeuvre includes eight novels, as well as essays and short stories in The Washington Post, Mademoiselle, Redbook, Story, and many other magazines. She has had regular columns in Self, Glamour, New Woman, and Parenting. She has been awarded a Best American Spiritual Writing Award, the Paul Bowles Prize for Short Fiction, and two Pushcart Prizes. Each year, the Women’s Fund’s annual fundraiser brings together supporters to celebrate the Fund’s work to advance equity and social justice for women and girls. This year’s High Tea will also feature a raffle with prizes ranging from holiday gift baskets to a week-long stay in a three-story house located in the South of France.
