Arlene Violet’s Mob Musical “The Family” Tickets Going on Sale

Tuesday, March 01, 2011

There will be zeppoles.

And the first grab of tickets for Rhode Island's home-grown mob musical, written by none other than Arlene Violet.

Tickets for Arlene Violet’s production of The Family go on sale Saturday, March 19th at the Trinity Rep Box Office. From 9am-noon, ticket buyers will have the opportunity to meet the playwright herself, as well as composer Erico Garzilli and members of the cast. They will also be entered into a drawing to win dinner with Arlene Violet at Bravo Brasserie on the performance day for which they purchase tickets. In honor of St. Joseph’s Day, complimentary zeppole’s (Italian pastries) provided by Buono’s Bakery of Providence, will be offered to all ticket buyers.

The musical, directed by Peter Sampieri, will run at the Lederer Theater at Trinity Rep from June 2-July 1.

Real mob guys, real events

Based on real life mob guys and events, the Godfather wants his reluctant son to take over The Family. When his son refuses, the mob boss loses his grip on his empire. Mayhem ensues.  The musical is set in Rhode Island but Violet says, “The names have been changed to protect the guilty!”

Cast members Tom Gleadow (Don Marco), Mark Colozzi (Barros), Colin Earyes (Renaldo), Naysh Fox (Pietro), and Jeanine Belcastro-Went (Claire Barros) have signed on to appear in this premiere engagement.  Supporting cast members of The Family include Jason Cabral of Providence, Mike DiMascolo of Providence, Hayley Gasbarro of Barrington, Wensday Greenbaum of Providence, Kim Kalunian of Warwick, Joe Nicastro of Warwick, Tobias Petrone of Pawtucket, Haley Pine of Barrington, Amanda Ruggiero of Smithfield, Marissa Silva of Woonsocket, Jim Sloan of Wakefield, and Talia Triangolo of Providence.

An abundance of local talent

“The Family has been blessed with an abundance of local talent,” said Violet. “It was our goal to hire as many local actors who are triple threats - great actors, dancers, and singers. And we found them right here in Rhode Island! I’m thrilled to have them join The Family!”

Single tickets are $60 and can be purchased by calling 351-4242, visiting the Trinity Rep box office at 201 Washington St in Providence, or online at www.trinity rep.com. Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $54 per person.  An early bird discount of 15% will be applied to all single tickets purchased between March 19th and April 19th.  Single tickets purchased between April 20th and May 20th will be discounted by 10%.  Twelfth row bench seating is $15.
