ArtsWorcester Set to Open New Exhibit Titled “Beauty and the Edge”
Wednesday, June 14, 2017
The exhibit will open on Thursday, June 29 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Franklin Square Salon Gallery at Hanover Theater.
At 6:15 of that night, Dion will give a brief artist talk explaining her inspirations, abstract expressionism and plain air traditions. The reception is open and free to all.
Dion explores depth, realism, and beauty in these textured paintings. She is the daughter of a third-generation wholesale florist, and developed the enduring love for flowers and beauty seen in her paintings today.
Abstract expressionism and the plein air tradition inspire Dion to apply a loose mixture of colors to the canvas, and to explore the boundaries of brush-strokes, compositional forms, and color combinations.
