Jason Odell Williams' play Church & State is coming to the Unicorn Theatre in Stockbridge
If you are traveling to the Berkshires over the coming weeks, the
Berkshire Theatre Group is celebrations its 90th season with a limited run of the play “Church & State” by Jason Odell Williams.
The show will run from Thursday, June 14 through June 30 at the Unicorn Theatre in Stockbridge. There will be a special opening night celebration on Saturday, June 16 at 8 p.m.

Church & State
Church & State premiered in Los Angeles in 2016 and received three Ovation Award nominations, including Best Playwriting for an Original Play and Best Production.
For its Off-Broadway premiere in 2017, it received an Off-Broadway Alliance Award nomination for Best Play.
The play provides a look at the life of a politician, whose belief system gets shaken to the core just three days before his bid for re-election.
About Odell Williams
Odell Williams is an Emmy Award-nominated writer and producer ("Brain Games") as well as an Ovation Award-nominated playwright. His latest play, Church & State, was produced as a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere at The Skylight Theatre in L.A.where it was nominated for three L.A. Ovation Awards including Best Playwriting for an Original Play, and at JCC CenterStage in Rochester, NY.
It had its Off-Broadway premiere in 2017 and received an Off-Broadway Alliance (OBA) Award nomination for Best Play. His play Handle With Care (published by Dramatists Play Service) is a New York Times Critics’ Pick and ran for over 100 performances Off-Broadway.
The play has been produced 21 times in the last five years in the U.S. and Canada. Other plays: Baltimore in Black & White(the cell theatre); Someone Else (NC Stage); The Science of Guilt(The DR2); Going Offline (Fells Point Corner Theatre); The Jungle Gym(American Globe Theatre). Readings: Primary Stages, The Blank Theatre, The Lark and EST.
Williams’ first novel, Personal Statement, was optioned for a three-picture deal and he is currently adapting it for the screen with his wife and collaborator Charlotte Cohn.
