Big Discounts for Children and Seniors at Sturbridge Village

Friday, August 23, 2013

An Old Sturbridge Village historian talks with visitors in one of the OSV apple orchards.

Old Sturbridge Village is extending savings into September for children, seniors, and grandparents. The museum is offering free daytime admission for children age 17 and younger through Labor Day Sept. 2 and seniors age 55 and over will get half price daytime admission and additional discounts throughout the month of September during OSV's "Senior Month" celebration.

In addition to half price admission during September, seniors age 55 and over get free boat rides, 10 percent off all food purchases, 10 percent off gift shop purchases over $25, and a 10 percent discount at the newly-opened Old Sturbridge Inn and Reeder Family Lodges. Also, all grandparents will receive free OSV admission on "National Grandparents Day" Sept. 8 when accompanied by a grandchild.

The museum's free children's admission offer extends through Labor Day Sept. 2, 2013. All kids age 17 and younger get free admission to Old Sturbridge Village when accompanied by an adult - an $8 value per child (offer does not apply to educational groups of 10 or more). For details on all September savings at OSV: 800-SEE-1830; http://www.osv.org.

Special Old Sturbridge Village events in September include Family Fun Day activities on Labor Day Sept. 2; the annual Drummers' Call fife and drum corps muster on Sept. 7; and the harvest-themed Agricultural Exhibition on Sept. 14-15.

In addition, the Village offers all of its signature craft demonstrations, and guests can see the printer, shoemaker, potter, blacksmith and "tinners" at work. OSV has 40 antique buildings, including three water-powered mills and a working farm. Visitors can meet the Village's heritage breed animals, and tour one of its five gardens, which have heirloom herbs, vegetables, and flowers in bloom.
