Carrie Underwood Hits the DCU Center

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

Multi-Platinum recording artist Carrie Underwood

Grammy Award-winning recording artist Carrie Underwood will take the stage at the DCU Center tonight for a stop on her heralded "Blown Away Tour."

The North American arena tour serves as a promotion to the former American Idol winner's latest album, "Blown Away," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was officially certified as a platinum album earlier this month.

“I can’t wait to get back out on the road and perform new music from my new album for my fans,” says Carrie. “We have a lot of exciting things planned!”

But the five-time Grammy winner isn't the only attraction at this show. Opening for Underwood will be multi-talented writer, musician, producer and performer Hunter Hayes. The versatile Hayes is the only country artist to ever instrument, write and co-produce an acclaimed debut album. Sharing the stage with a big star like Underwood should be nothing new for Hayes, who has opened for Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban and others.

His Top 40 hit "Wanted" is currently topping the charts. Not bad for a 21-year-old.

Underwood is widely considered one of the top live acts in American music. Her two previous tours, 2008's "Carnival Ride Tour" and 2010's "Play On Tour," included a combined 250 performances with over 2.2 million fans in total attendance. This is certainly no surprise for Underwood, seeing as she has sold over 14 million albums and amassed 14 No. 1 singles.

The show is set to begin inside the DCU Center at 7:30 pm. Some tickets are still available here at Ticketmaster here.
