CCRI Free Concert Features Rising Jazz Star
Saturday, November 13, 2010
Ana Cohen, a rapidly rising star in the international jazz world, will appear in a free concert tonight at the Community College of Rhode Island's Flanagan Campus in Lincoln.
Cohen came to the United States from Israel in 1999 and studied at Berklee College of Music. Famed guitarist Howard Alden, who has been an important jazz musician since breaking into the big time with the vibraphonist Red Norvo when he was 21, also will perform. Also in the band are the internationally renowned trombonist George Masso, a native of Rhode Island; bassist Marshall Wood from the current Tony Bennett quartet; and Gary Johnson, son of the famed musician Dick Johnson, on drums.
The concert is sponsored by CCRI's Human Services Club.
