Why not take an adventure? At almost forty square miles Worcester is teeming with plenty of things to do, but also plenty of ways to get lost. This guide will provide efficient and affordable ways to travel within and out of the city. Whether you are trying to make your way downtown to go see a show at the DCU center, or heading over to Worcester Art Museum for a blast of culture you can rely on these methods of transportation to get you off without a hitch.

As much as you love your school, there may be times when you need to get off campus. Whether you need to shop, eat, study or just explore other parts of the city or state, there are a variety of affordable ways to do so.

Shuttles

Colleges of Worcester Consortium Shuttle Service

Free shuttle service for both students and faculty that connects a number of
Worcester college campuses to each other as well as the Worcester Art Museum, Public Library, and Union Station. The Consortium Shuttle makes hourly stops at each of the following colleges, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

  • Becker College- Front Gate – 61 Sever Street
  • Worcester Polytechnic Institute- Riley Hall (near the quad)
  • Assumption College- near Plourde Recreation Center
  • Worcester State College- In front of Administrative Buildings
  • Clark University-Shares stop with WRTA on Main Street
  • College of the Hoy Cross-Main entrance of Hogan Campus Center
  • Worcester Public Library- Salem Street
  • Union Station-Major Taylor Boulevard
  • Worcester Art Museum-Lancaster Street

WRTA

WRTA or the Worcester Regional Transit Authority provides bus service around the greater Worcester area. Students can find the bus schedule and stops on www.therta.com. College students are eligible to purchase a bus pass for one semester’s use for $100.00, or students are can pay regular adult bus fare which is $1.50 per ride.

CityRide

CityRide runs on Fridays and Saturdays and connects Worcester Polytechnic, Clark, Holy Cross, and Assumption to downtown shopping, entertainment, and popular places to eat. This service is free for students.

Zipcar

Zipcar is becoming an increasingly popular and viable option on college campuses for students to get around. Students can register for a free Zipcar account and use community shared cars for only the cost of a $25 annual fee and the price of driving which is either $7.50/hour or $69 for the whole day.
