“Coming Out” Exhibit at URI’s Feinstein Campus

As Rhode Island celebrates Coming Out Day this Monday, a FirstWorks art exhibit, "Coming Out: The Art & Politics of Gender & Sexuality," explores sexual and gender identity and the revolutionary action of "coming out." The exhibit will runs through October 29, with a Gallery Night reception on October 21.

According to URI Providence Campus Coordinator of Urban Arts and Culture Steven Pennell, the exhibit pieces consider and explore several questions and issues faced by members of the LGBTQ community.

The art exhibit features inspiring, expressive and dynamic art works in all media by the following artists: Robert Adamcik, Jane Adams, Heather Adels, John Ahrsenault, Richard P. Bennett, Mary Ellen Benoit, Michael Breyette, Jenny Cabreja, Paul Carpentier, Steven Carpenter, David Carrino, William Cash, Larry Collins, Steve Cronkite, Lee Daniels, Lisa Decesare, Tamara Diaz, Jack Donahue, Kimberly Dow, Melanie Ducharme, Joseph Farrelli, Phillip Gabrielli, Ricky Gagnon, Eric Gibbons, Cynthia Glinick, Stephen P. Gross, Kira Hawkridge, Chad Houle, David Howard, Darrell Hughes, Lee Johnson, Steve Katz, Amy Kinney, Alexis Kosmider, Kitty Litter, Kelly Martin, Chris McGlaughlin, Olan Montgomery, Campbell Paxton, Julian Penrose, Christopher Pothier, Roger Reutimann, Kyle Ringquist, Arthur Richter, Joshua Robinson, Lara Sebastian, Jade Sisti, Robert Sherer, Arthi Sundaresh, Melissa Taylor, Joseph Vorgity, Steve Walker.The project was funded in part by Equity Action, Rhode Island Counsel for the Humanities and URI Providence Campus Student Government Board.
