Celebrating its first anniversary since launching as a new brand, The Communicators Club (TCC) awarded its annual Elaine Cencak Memorial Scholarship and elected a Board of Directors for 2013-2014 during its Annual Meeting held at Assumption College, May 14.
Crystal Fam, a 2013 graduate of Clark University with degrees in Communication and Culture and Geography, received the Elaine Cencak Memorial Scholarship, which is presented annually to a communications college student as a senior or enrolled in a graduate program. A native of Singapore, Ms. Fam will resume her studies this fall when she begins work toward her Master’s of Science in Professional Communications at Clark University. TCC members who reviewed the competitive scholarship applications noted Ms. Fam’s experience in course work and international internships that reflected her commitment to a communications career and depth of insight into integrated marketing communications. The scholarship is named for Elaine Cencak, who helped to establish the organization and nurtured it as adviser and mentor during its first 40 years.
The following Board members were elected for two-year terms: Cynthia Allegrezza (Allegrezza Communications, Worcester); Jodie Lynn Boduch (Much Ado Marketing, Sturbridge); Jay Brenner (Universal Tag, Inc., Dudley); James Casey (Casey Designs, Worcester); Lorraine Martinelle (Assumption College); Anne Morrissey (brand strategist, writer, and editor, Shrewsbury); Isabela Bessa Pelto (journalist, Worcester); David Roth (4 The Cause Marketing & Consulting, Fitchburg); Christine Taylor (fundraising and communications consultant, Shrewsbury); and Sharyn Williams (Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce). Business author and consultant Nacie Carson was the keynote speaker for the annual meeting. She spoke about “The Primary Audience: Brand, Success, and Self,” and on adapting one’s career to the changing job market, which is the topic of her book, “The Finch Effect: The Five Strategies to Adapt and Thrive in Your Working Life.”
