Condit: The Hanover Theatre’s Staff Top 10 Picks for 2015-2016

Wednesday, September 30, 2015

Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood: Two Man Group

With over 75 performances already scheduled at The Hanover Theatre this season, I was curious which shows would make the staff’s top ten for the coming year.  The winners are indicative of the variety of entertainment as well as the personal tastes of the people who work at one of the top theatres in the world.  Can you guess which shows made the list?  Let’s see if your top ten match ours:

Tied for #9 and #10: We must like to rock out and laugh hysterically at the theatre, because both Get the Led Out: The American Led Zeppelin (November 21) and Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood: Two Man Group, sponsored by Southbridge Savings Bank (April 2) made the list!

Tied for #7 and #8:  Evidently the staff at the theatre also LOVE the holidays because we can’t resist the shows that are about the true spirit of Christmas with Troy Siebels’ adaptation of A Christmas Carol sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (December 18-27) and Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical (November 6-8).  Hmmm….there are similarities between the Grinch and Scrooge…  But these two might also make the lists because the theatre is doing more audience engagement and community outreach via these two productions than most other shows.  Stay tuned for more on our accessibility, news regarding our Adopt-A-School education program and engagement opportunities in the months to come.

Tied for #5 and #6: We’ve also got some serious music lovers at the theatre, because Disney in Concert (February 27) and Ragtime The Musical, sponsored by Worcester State University (January 29-31), top many staffers’ lists.

#4: Mel Brooks is always a hit, and The Producers, sponsored by Commerce Bank (October 23-25), is one of the most anticipated tours of the season.  It also kicks off the theatre’s Broadway Series and guarantees an evening of laughter and fun.

#3:  You know a show has a lot of sizzle when it’s coming back again and it makes the top 3!  That’s the case with Stomp, sponsored by Polar Beverages (January 10).  The truth is, we all remember how completely cool this explosive, inventive and utterly unique this experience was and we can’t wait to see it again!

#2: We obviously have a lot of dance fanatics over here, because we’re also looking forward to Travis Wall’s Shaping Sound Dance Company (November 14) returning to our stage again this season.  If you missed them last year, make sure you catch this electrifying new show featuring award-winning dancers and choreography.

#1: Let’s just say that NOBODY puts Baby in a corner, and we’re ALL ready to have the time of our lives when Dirty Dancing (June 7-12) comes to town!
