Condit: Theatre Brings TV Favorites to Life for Young Audiences

Thursday, April 16, 2015

Okay, I’ll admit it.  When my daughter was younger, we were addicted to several tv shows on PBS, Disney, and Nickelodeon that involved singing and dancing.  Without shame or judgment, we looked forward to certain times of the day when we could join our favorite characters in familiar and fun ways.  One of the trends that is so interesting are the number of touring productions that bring some of the most popular tv stars…including animated creations…to life!  Last week it was The Price is Right Live! and this Saturday, it’s a fabulous children’s show.

Chuggington Live! The Great Rescue Adventure is a perfect example of a new musical experience, based on the hit Disney Junior TV program, and is rolling into town for one magical matinee at 2pm onApril 18.  Fans have the opportunity to join Wilson, Koko and Brewster on the most traintastic day ever as the trainees eagerly start their advanced training.   As they master their new roles that test their courage, speed and determination, Koko finds herself in trouble at Rocky Ridge Mine.  It’s up to Koko’s friends to put their newly learned skills into practice and help her.  Everyone feels the drama and roots for Wilson to come to Koko’s rescue and fulfill his dream of becoming Chug Patrol hero.

Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, and children will all get into the spirit of this musical, featuring many new songs, alongside hit songs from the TV series.  Chuggington Live: The Great Adventure is touring for the first time in North America, and the show features beautifully designed Chuggington train carriages live on stage!  Coming to life with working mouths, eyes and plenty of traintastic action, these characters will thrill train lovers new and old.  The backdrop for the live show is a video wall featuring animated interactive backgrounds to the live stage action.

If you’re looking for a way to bond with your favorite preschooler, then head over to The Hanover Theatre this weekend.  Full price tickets start at $29, and there are discounts for members, groups, corporate partners, and WOO Card holders online, by calling 877.571.SHOW(7469), or the box office at 2 Southbridge Street in downtown Worcester.  The theatre recently announced several new shows, as well as their 2015-2016 Broadway Series.  Check out the full list of Broadway, music and more coming to one of the Top 50 Theatres in the World…right here in Worcester!
